Maruki Pizza Yomitan
17:14This past weekend the amazing happened! We found ourselves an awesome babysitter! After a few tries and no real luck in the past, it seems we might finally have an arrangement that works! Fingers crossed. Anyway, this meant that on Friday night we got to go out for a date to an Italian restaurant I have been wanting to try, Maruki Pizza. It was fantastic!
Friday after we had a confirmed babysitter, I rang the restaurant to try to make the reservation in broken Japanese. We ended up speaking a hybrid of English and Japanese, so when we turned up they thought I had made a reservation for 9 people, not 2! I felt really embarrassed! Also, I felt really bad in case it had meant they turned away potential customers for the night....Oops!!
Anyway, we settled into our newly arranged table for 2 and soon had glasses of red wine and food on the way. The menu is full of delicious things, so we will be back to try more, but we settled on some broccoli with garlic and chilli, a margherita pizza and fresh pasta with a mushroom and garlic cream sauce. It was all really delicious, and I especially loved the fresh pasta.
Although we have a very well behaved child, who we enjoy going out to dinner with, it was just so lovely to be able to sit and have adult, uninterrupted conversation for a few hours past 8pm! Here's hoping this babysitting thing works out for us, and we have more nights like this ahead of us.
