Korea Trip!

Bukchon Hanok Village in Seoul is a great place to visit early in the morning. You don't need to worry about an opening time so if you are an early riser you can get there to take photos before it's overrun with tourists!

A couple of months ago when we were thinking about what to do for my birthday, Peach Airlines had a sale and we managed to get some cheap flights over to Korea, so last week we finally went! We spent a few days in Seoul, and a few days down visiting my brother and his wife in Gimhae, just outside of Busan.

I have been to Korea once before, 5 years ago when I was pregnant with little G, and it was great to go back and be able to have a drink and eat more of the food! It was also lovely to explore a new country with Helen and little G.

Gyeongbukgong Palace in Seoul is full of colourful buildings set with a backdrop of gorgeous mountains. A great place to visit in Seoul

We arrived late in the afternoon, so spent the first night checking in to our hotel and wandering around Myeongdong before having a relatively early night after a day of travel.

While we were in Seoul, on our first full day we visited the Bukchon Hanok Village early (because we were up at the crack of dawn), Gyeongbukgung Palace, and had a little wander around the National Folk Museum. We headed over to Insadong to an awesome little vegetarian Korean restaurant for lunch (Oh Se Gae Hyang) and a wander.

While we were waiting for the restaurant to open we also found a hilarious waffle store with poo shaped waffles! I also spotted a toilet themed restaurant, that I will totally try next time i'm in Seoul, just to say we did!

The National Folk Museum in Seoul is right next to Gyeongbukgong Palace and free to enter.

We spent the afternoon wandering around Myeongdong, checking out all the street food and getting Bibimbap for dinner!

I'll be doing separate posts on the places we visited in Seoul because I took a lot of photos! The same with our time in Gimhae.

  2. I LOVE Bukchon Hanok Village!! Of all the places I visited in Seoul, Bukchon Hanok Village was my favourite. Followed by Lotte World - just for the little one.

I would totally love to visit the toilet themed restaurant and munch on poop waffles. hehe.. And Korea has never struck me as a place to find delicious beer. I thought they were more into Soju.

  5. I always imagined Seoul to be one of those huge Asian cities that never sleeps and where there's always crowds around but it actually looks so peaceful in your pictures! Definitely curious to visit now :)
